Short Stories

Valarius

Valarius was a writing exercise that turned into a short story.
I had written a different short story called We Feel Too, but after several incarnations of that story I still wasn’t happy with it.
So I asked myself: Alright, what if everything went wrong and the events of We Feel Too never happened?
Valarius is the story that explores that idea.

100s

Each story in this page is set up as its own image, and each is exactly 100 words long.
I started writing short fictions to process thoughts and imaginings, and to store characters who had nowhere else to go.
These are the ones I decided to share.

Nostalgia

Nostalgia is a short story I wrote after lying awake one night and wondering what happens to the fictional characters we love.
Do they have to live forever? Do they grow old? Outdated? What if they did?

Mrs Scrimshaw

Mrs Scrimshaw was gift for my mother for her birthday.
When I asked what I could get her as a present, she told me she wanted a short story. She has always been responsibly honest about my work, so this was mildly daunting.

However, I rose to the challenge and wrote a satirical fairytale where the hero is a little old lady who has to save the day with her wits, her knitting needles, and her raggedy cat.

It worked.

My mum thinks it’s pretty cool.

Crossroads

A Vincent Temple Prequel.
Doctor Vincent Temple hunts monsters for a living, but the last few years have been worse than hard. Crossroads is the story of Vincent’s first case for the Brotherhood of Hunters after returning home from WWI.

For fans of the Vincent Temple Trilogy who want to know more, or newcomers curious to see what Vincent’s adventures are like, this is for you.
